If you're looking for an opportunity to get started on your family history or just want to break down some genealogical brick walls, Heritage Week (22-30 August) is the perfect time. Ireland's National Heritage Week, organised by The Heritage Council, aims to educate people about our heritage and encourage its preservation.

Start exploring your own family tree

As we've done in previous years, Findmypast will be marking this national celebration of Irish heritage and culture with an event for all family historians. We're teaming up with Eneclann to help you trace your ancestors and bring your past to life on Tuesday 25th August in Dublin City Library and Archive.

On the day, you can expect:

  • Free access to billions of family history records on Findmypast and demos on how to use the site
  • Expert advice from Eneclann's team of genealogists
  • Hourly talks on topical family history subjects (see below)

What's more, all of this will be available completely free of charge and no booking is required! Whether you're just getting started or already have an advanced family tree, we'd love to see you there and help you delve further into your family story.
